Motherhood
Honest reflections on the meaningful, exhausting, funny, and beautiful work of raising a family.
Former classroom teacher, homeschooling mom, lifelong learner, and the voice behind A Teacher Mom.
I believe some of life’s most meaningful lessons happen outside a traditional classroom—in conversations around the kitchen table, during ordinary family moments, and in the seasons God uses to gently reshape our plans.
Learning to embrace slower days, thoughtful yeses, and the joy found in ordinary moments.
A Teacher Mom is a place for honest stories about motherhood, homeschooling, faith, learning, and finding joy in the season right in front of us.
For many years, teaching was not simply what I did. It was a meaningful part of who I was.
I loved watching students grow, celebrating their victories, and witnessing those wonderful lightbulb moments when something finally clicked. The classroom taught me about patience, creativity, flexibility, and the power of meeting a child exactly where they are.
It also taught me how easily we can give and give until there is very little left.
Today, my classroom looks different. My students are my own children, our lessons may occasionally happen in pajamas, and our field trips do not require permission slips.
Becoming a homeschooling mom has opened the door to a new season of learning—not only for my children, but for me.
I am learning to slow down, hold plans loosely, protect our family’s peace, and recognize that not every good opportunity needs to become our opportunity.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV
This is not a space devoted to perfection. It is a space for honest encouragement, thoughtful reflection, and growing together.
Honest reflections on the meaningful, exhausting, funny, and beautiful work of raising a family.
Encouragement for creating a home where curiosity, connection, flexibility, and meaningful learning can grow.
Gentle reminders to trust God, notice His direction, and find strength in quietness, rest, and prayer.
Lessons from the classroom of everyday life—for our children, our families, and ourselves.
Finding beauty in slow mornings, unexpected conversations, family rhythms, and days that do not look impressive.
Making room for stronger relationships, unhurried connection, and a home that feels like a place of peace.
Education matters deeply to me, but so do relationships, rest, curiosity, faith, and the emotional rhythm of our home.
Children do not all need to learn in exactly the same way.
An open afternoon is not an empty afternoon.
Curiosity can lead to some of our most memorable lessons.
Rest is not wasted time.
It is okay to adjust the plan when the plan no longer serves us.
We can trust God with both our carefully made plans and our unexpected detours.
The one where my own children are free to ask questions, explore ideas, and learn at a rhythm that works for our family.
Saying no without guilt, leaving margin in our days, and choosing presence over pressure.
That you leave feeling encouraged, understood, and a little more confident about the season God has placed in front of you.
I do not have every answer, and I am not getting every day right. I am simply learning alongside my children, trusting God with this season, and sharing what I discover along the way.
I hope A Teacher Mom feels like sitting across the table from a friend: honest, encouraging, occasionally funny, and always filled with grace.
